I got caught short last week and ended up burning pea coal for a day and a half.
Because of the larger size I thought I would have stoker issues but I did not. Also because of the larger size I thought I should set my feed rate back a bit, but I should not . It burned very hot and very fast.
Just wanted to pass on the info if anyone gets in the same situation (needed coal, dealer on vacation lol) that I did.

I have burned pea as well about 2 ton actually with no issue. Monitoring draft and over fire pressure is critical. We still recommend no larger than buck, even though I don't see any issues. It is nice to know they will still digest it easily.kstills wrote:I got caught short last week and ended up burning pea coal for a day and a half.

Yep, I have four stoves from that stable - top of the line and everyone a winner. For shoulder month use though stick with rice - unless you like living with the windows open.
