Coffee 8-10-13

PostBy: Freddy On: Sat Aug 10, 2013 6:13 am

Wi-Fi works! (now & then) I think it's Saturday so I thought I'd through on a pot of coffee & see what's perking. I can't believe vacation is a week gone by already. There's been a lot of rain, but starting today it looks like good weather coming. French toast & sausage for breakfast. Join in! There's plenty for everyone.

We went to the mill town of Millinocket yesterday & met Forum member michaelanthony...."Big Mike"...for the first time. He's head chef at the Pellitier's (sp?) logging restaurant. We had the most delicious seafood that Maine & Mile has to offer. I had the fish fry (very fresh haddock) and Marty had seafood chowder. The Pellitiers are lucky to have Mike, he has a knack for making things special. Along with perfectly fired fish came pan fried fresh green beans and summer squash, onion rings, and of course French fries...but even they had something special going on. Marty's chowder was made with real cream & had the best Maine's ocean has to offer....scallops, shrimp, haddock, lobster. We took desert to go & that was good too! Raspberry cheesecake and Italian lemon cake. Mmmmmm.

I see lot's of activity on the Forum.....new members.... people buying and lining up fuel for this coming winter. We have one more month of not using any heat, then it's back to chilly nights.

Welcome to all the new comers. Stop by any time!

I hope this sends.....Internet here is sketchy! Enjoy the week.

Nice breakfast choice Freddy. We had serious lightning, rain & some good old flooding Thurs. night till Fri. AM-- sounds like ma put on a good feed for you & Marty :) My oldest girl & 3 grandkids are coming for a visit from Lower Saucon, Pa this week-end--be good to see that crew. Her nursing schedule (Doylestown Hospital--critical care) doesn't give her much time off. Have a good week-end all:)

Morning all.....breakfast sounds good....i'll join in but that moose will have to slide over in the booth to make room for me!

Going to do some testing of the coal vac system today before building the outside bin. I need to make sure it will pull the coal in without getting air locked up from outside before building the bin. Otherwise I will hear 10 years of 'what were you thinking' and 'i told you so'.

Trying to plan ahead a little this year as I have made a couple trips bringing home a ton of coal at a time, probably bring home about 4 more ton before the cold weather hits.

Have a great day everyone.

Morning all. It's been a while since I've made one of these. Coffee and sausage sound good. As much as I love French toast I think I'll skip it.

I'm not entirely sure what's on the docket for today. I know I've been saying I want to get an elliptical bike for a while so maybe I'll go do that. It's almost time to get ready for winter. I have one small repair to make on the throat plate I installed in the chimney last season then I need to concentrate on getting coal. I haven't been too active on here this summer. Not much has been going on at home either. It's been a relatively quiet summer which is odd for me. There is usually some sort of drama going on.

There has been one addition to the IOF family though.

I traded in my aging 1999 Dodge Dakota. It had been in and out of the shop all summer and the last time it went in I was told the trans was going. My wife and I had a few very long talks about what we were going to do. Repairing it just didn't seem to make sense at this point. The truck was rusting away and it was going to cost $4k for the trans coupled with that and all the other repairs I made on it over the summer we felt it was time. So, we debated on another used truck or a new one. I ended up going through my company on a new one. We're leasing it right now and I'm planning on buying it at the end. It's a 2013 F-150 4X4 with the 3.5 V6 Twin Turbo EcoBoost engine; it has the 3.55 electronic locking rear end, tow package.

Yeah, I was having problems with posting the pic. It was ginormous.

I didn't want any of the fancy stuff. I just picked the first truck I saw in the lot out. Didn't even drive or look at it because I had driven one a month before I bought it. It's a two year lease. So...if things start falling apart I'll just say bye-bye to it.
