Someone recently told me my fire seems to be very high above the pot----about two inches. Now, except for outfires during hot and humid days, the boiler has burned impeccably for the time I've had it, about five years. Right now, I have the low water temp at 130 and the high at 190, while the feed is at two and the air at about three. Anyway, should the fire be that high above the pot?

I have never seen what you described, even when running 8 teeth. Shut down and carefully check the burn plates for plugged holes...especially deep in the pot.

I suspect your feed and air settings may be partially to blame, for both the fire appearance and the outfires. When in doubt, try 4/4 and 2 minutes every half hr on the timer.
