PostBy: smith10210 On: Mon Aug 19, 2013 11:33 pm

Just got my 50-93 and previously had a stoker but wondering if i should have a tee and a cap coming out of the stove for clean out or is a 90 fine. Im just not sure how much ash build up i might get in the 90.

Went back to propane which was a mistake but had a LL stoker that i sold. I wish i had knew about hand fired stoves because i would have did it right the first time... Can't wait for a silent stove and not have to worry about power outages and no heat.. I'm going to burn wood in it at first because i have access to free wood a some on my property until the real cold months come than coal obviously.

Make sure you remove the hopper/ hopper boot when burning that wood. Yep, power outages are the biggest problem here on the hill--I think once you run out of available wood, you'll find you can idle that 50-93 down to near nothing--just takes some playing:)

First season with my new 50-93 coming up but I plan to burn wood during the Fall. Once I get used to running the stove with coal I'll see which I burn when the temps come up in the Spring. I'd definitely recommend going with a Tee & cleanout especially since you are going to be burning wood. Dean at Hitzer recommended installing a manual damper when I told him I'd be burning wood.

Yes i have the tee installed.. After reading all the debate on dampers im just going without one unless i have issues I had a RC baro on my LL stoker and sold it with the stove... I might burn a few face cord of wood not much so im not going to worry about the damper will see.... Yes the hopper will be out when im burning wood... Cant wait to fire her up...
