Vote on Syria

PostBy: Richard S. On: Sun Sep 01, 2013 6:05 pm

Do you have the deck chair and popcorn prepared for this? After drawing a red line Obama has decided to punt it to Congress. This by far is one of the weirdest situations in politics I've seen.

Are the liberals going to support Obama?
Will the Republicans not support him?
Let's suppose the liberals don't support him, does he criticize them for not supporting war?
Does he thank the Republicans for supporting him?
Does he criticize Republicans for playing politics if they don't support war?
Does he thank liberals for supporting war?
...and the whopper question, what does he do if he fails to get a positive vote?

Soooo...Do you believe that someone used poison gas or not? If so who do you suspect did it and why. Lastly what do you think should be done about it?

Im suspecting he did it as he was the only known entity to have them, unless someone found all the wmds that were smuggled out of Iraq just before the start of the second war. There were wmds right???

If his history is any indicator, he will bend and twist whatever situation that shall arise into one where he comes out smelling like roses ... and everyone else is to blame for the bad. He wins no matter what. That's this administration's M.O. .

We have no business going into Syria. Nothing good will come of this if it happens ...

Since it's a civil war, it's really none of our business, but with large portions of the country under the control of the rebels, I believe they have the both the MO and the means whereby to have committed this atrocity.

As isayre pointed, why didn't we fire missiles at Janet Reno when she murdered all those people in Texas with poison gas and even claimed credit for it?

Mark Steyn figures Obama will lose this war quicker than we usually do.

The Obama administration is convinced and frankly if there was any intel that suggested it was the rebels you know that would be the most politically advantageous thing for the administration. That gets them off the hook.

Personally, I think he got tired of all the bellyachin hereabouts these parts over "yet another executive action". He's just trying an approach that it would seem should be more popular around here. :poke:

What strikes me is the fact that even after five years in office BO is still such an amateur. This whole mess over Syria is of his own making; the foolish "red line" comment, doing nothing when it was crossed, ready to act, waiting for Congress....... He can't blame this on the Republicans. Love him or hate him, it's becoming impossible to deny his incompetence. The sad thing is, it will probably be our professionals in the military who will pay the price.

Someone asked for an opinion about who did it. I believe like good old Samhill, that who stands to gain did it. And that is the rebels.

It was the Israelis that drew the line first, lets not forget where they are, that Hamas is already in the fight & Israel has done some themselves. Most of all don't forget who controls our monetary system.

In order of your questions: Yes. Not sure. Nothing.

I heard Kerry on Fox today. He was focusing on your second question -- who did it? -- as if the third was a foregone conclusion. In other words, IF Assad did it then the missiles MUST fly. He spent all his time blustering about proof, so that nobody would bother to think about whether a US attack made any sense or would accomplish anything useful. Unfortunately, the interviewer just wanted to bait him about the flip-flop rather than question what a rational US response would be, or whether there even should BE a US response -- had to turn off the radio rather than listen to two dishonest *censored* shout each other down.

This question has loads of implications with regard to O's motivation: If the rebels did it, are we forced to obliterate them and support Assad?

It would seem that several groups might benefit. But I see no benefit for the American people. Just bail out old Egobama if we hit them.

He just wants to call the whole thing off without looking silly. That's why he got Congress involved to give him an excuse to not act when they turn down the attack or if they should back him he then has the political support he needs. Either way he wins.

The question remains, what would Assad gain by Gassing people? The war has been going on for 2yrs. He knows that by using Sarin he will be FuVking himself. This by according Pelosi and Kerry is a "Reformer".
