Native Americans

Being a good Lenni Lenape, or as you pale skins refer to us as Delaware toothy , I'm embarrassed that-- AIM--American Indian Movement (pseudo fanatics) are busting balls on sport teams & mascots names--just goes to show, I guess, that there are jesssie jackson's & al sharptons hiding under many a colored skin & insist on keeping the pot stirred--these teams took these names to show pride, & commitment to their sports. I've spoken with a couple Elders on the Oneida Res. & we are in agreement on the silliness of all this-- :(

I have to agree with you. It's absurd that all these special action groups are suing to get team names changed. I don't even like sports and I can see the radiculousness of it all.

What I can't figure out is what brought on this revelation that some sports teams had Indian names, like it just happened or something. I would think As F.F. that these names were expressing pride & honoring our native American brothers & sisters all these years. Makes me wonder if with the declining steel industry the Steelers should rename or maybe quit using bird & animal names, in any event the stadiums are still being filled & all involved are making money so just perhaps there are more important matters even to the AIM movement.

Come on Sam--" follow the money" I don't think Jackson or Sharpton are eligible for food stamps--they have a following that keeps them in money for keeping that said pot stirred-- just saying--I belonged to AIM back in the 70's before they went over the edge& started caring more about themselves then their constituents--sound familiar???????????? Even on the res's you look at how the working man lives compared to the hierarchy--be it organizations like AIM or Elders in some circumstances

I've also heard some rumblings from these special interest groups complaining of Jeep using the Cherokee name. :?:

What am I thinking, I should quit my job and find some people to throw money at me so I can fight the Ritz Company for using the word "cracker" on thier products!

All in good fun, ;) sometimes the media likes to take a small movement that in reality is more than likely people with too much time on thier hands and make them the talk of the town. I feel as thier are other things in life much more important to worry about.

Everyone wants attention and or money. Why go with the flow? There is no notoriety in that.

Join my petition to have the San Francisco 49ers renamed the “Gay Bay Queens” and the New England “Patriots” renamed the “Socialists”. The Eagles could be the “Cheese Steaks” or maybe just “The Losers” :P
