Finished My Project

Finished My Project

PostBy: smith10210 On: Sat Jan 05, 2008 1:27 am

I just got done installing my manometer and fresh air intake tonight I think everything turned out pretty good. So far it looks like my baro is off about .01. I had it set at.04 originally and now I my baro set at .03 to maintain my draft at .04 on the mano. Hopefully I have it setup right it's around 28 degrees out right now and I have my stove cranked up. My FR is 99. I've had it like this for around 45 minutes or so and the manometer is reading .04. The front side of the stove is reading 625 degrees. Ive noticed that since I made my changes on the baro my flue temps above it are 10 degrees cooler than before which is good its around 150 degrees. I'm not to sure how long I should run my stove at FR 99 to make sure my draft is stable at .04?.

You just need to run it hot until the temp. Stabilizes and then that would be max on the stove draft, set your baro, and you should be good to go. It will draw a bit more when really hot and maybe dip down to .02-.03 when idle. As long as you are at/above the the .02.-03 all the time, you shouldn't have a problem. Looks good!!

Looks good! I have found that with my stove running at a medium to high rate that I can safely run my draft at .035. If I manually hold the damper open and decrease my draft I can get it to .025 before I start to notice some sulpher smell which is not a good thing. So I feel that .035 is safe for me to run at. Like everyone else I like to get as much heat out of my coal as possible. My wife thinks that I am anal because I am always checking the draft and the CO detector looking for problems.

It's been steady at .04 hasn't changed at all this morning so i guess its OK. I have the temp set at 72 its been stable 71 sometimes. My FR is 33 at the moment but changes obviously. Thanks for the comments :)
