Its hotter beneath the ash pan than on top off the stove it kinda neat running 350 to 275 below ash pan seeing 200's on top . mica running 400 to 700 bye infrared gun smoke pipe is below 200 still a new fire less than few hour old will see how it looks in am. I think I will love this magazine

oh and you cant stand near the mica to long way to hot ungodly amount off radiant heat

Now you see why they called mica base burners,"Radiant Heaters." Can you not install that upstairs where you can take advantage of all that radiant heat?

Of course you had to buy it. I am very glad you did. An Andes Base Burner is one of the Crown Jewels of all stoves. I'm doubly glad you saved it from the people that had it before you got it.

Well have you heard off three blind mice?

I now have three dead mice found in the lower area below the ash pan and I think the former owner liked to spray this with old English or something lemon waxy type furniture polish smells great  . it cleans off the nickle with steel wool

Now I have a serious case of stove envy. My Red Cross Garnet ended up with plastic in the windows and I was too stupid to realize that until I lit it. So when the going got tough... the wimpy quit and I ended up installing the Hitzer instead. Now, don't get me wrong, that Hitzer has proven itself over and over this winter but it's no beauty queen. You are inspiring me to get the Garnet going this summer. Your story of the double heater feature sealed it. All I have to do is find the money for a chit load of mica. As you burn you learn..... Dave (dlj) tells me I don't have an area big enough to even light the stove but mindless overkill is a mindset that is tough to change.... I can't wait ... is this hopeless addiction?

Wow, beer run...how far are you? Ah crap a little too far. So have you moved into the basement? "Honey I'm going to clean the basement AGAIN
The magazine looks to be in excellent shape along with the rest of the stove. I'm glad all the mica was there. Is this a double heater with a hot air vent behind the finial?

yes full double heater look to have been rebuilt with a a new fire pot and grate lot off new cement sealing can still be seen the mica is cleaning up well with little 0000 steel wool and now just burning coal and letting it scrub the mica clean

I am completely happy I bought the stove I wasn't even looking for new one couldn't pass it up
