Music Video - African Mayonnaise

PostBy: Lightning On: Wed Sep 11, 2013 8:25 am

Being a musician, its sad to see what most kids today think is great. Its actually, for lack of a better word, its garbage. This video sums it all up quite nicely.

This video is difficult to watch, I must admit.. Listen to the words and apply it to what is happening in the younger society of today. Quite genius

A commenter on the video said this -
" kids should watch this and then maybe they will question the shallow materialistic consumer life they are encouraged to indulge in."

How true...

S,matter you don't like humping a traffic cone? It's safe sex.

The commentator I think was in favor of it. It gets back to the basics of sex and wild gyrations and the emotions they generate. Raw instinctive behaviour. If it truly is popular, then it has value in learning more about our species. It might even be illustrative of the beginnings of music with it's ability to magnify emotion. Maybe something not too different from one hundred thousand years ago. We really have not come "a long way baby".

That's an interesting perspective Franco. I was attempting to imply that I agree with the message conveyed in the video. It holds true with a lot of the urban lifestyles and pop music of today.

What is that message as you see it?

My hearing is not good enough to distinguish the words, so had to rely one the sounds and actions which may or may not have been an advantage into seeing into the basics of the thing.

There is representation of food addiction, drug addiction, the false sense of the importance of being popular in society.. Materialistic needs for happiness, acceptance in cliques, greed.. Kids having kids, I'm sure I've missed a few. Its all there, the fundamental issues of the newer generations.. Interestingly enough though, it could be applied to 100,000 years ago like you said.

So it is a parody of modern life? Very brutal in making the point yet I did not see any spiritual values in it, just an equal barbarism.

Yeah, I would agree with that..

Which reflects most of the garbage being churned out into modern pop music, social media, sitcoms and have become lifestyle (for some) :)
