Saw this and for $50.00 might be worth a look for someone. Pretty sure this is a No 3 Crawford which is a little larger than my own No 2. Hope this helps someone who might want to buy and restore a baseburner. :D

See if he has the swing top, finial and top trim. Finding all of those items if missing might be pretty difficult. It looks like the base frame is broken apart back there in the grass. This would certainly be a good parts cow for future use.

yea... those foot rests would prolly ebay for $50 alone... grate, doors, etc. just gravy (might be able to grab some old farm quips too!)

I've been in contact with the owner of the Crawford No. 3 - he's hard to reach!

I'm going to see the stove this week.

I'll post a report after I see/get the stove. It's certainly worth getting for that price, and it's not too far from me.

I just picked-up the Glenwood Oak 40 I had on lay-a-way last Tuesday. It's a very nice example - really heavy.

My Smith Anthony Hub heater (double heater) is still at Emery's. It should be ready soon.

If I get this Crawford, I'll have two base heaters, since I picked-up the Glenwood No. 6 last July.

As the fall progresses, I'll post pictures of my continuing to grow stove collection.

Emery indicated they were interested in some of my parts stoves, which will help with the storage problem.

There's still a lot of beautiful examples of New England makes out there - sometimes at cheap prices.

Regards - Chris

Chris
I hope everything works out for you with the Crawford. When I saw the stove on CL I felt that someone here in NEPA land would be interested in it.

Please keep us posted! :D

OneDollar - By the way - I'm planning to use the City Glenwood 12 I got from our friend in Avon to heat part of the house this winter. You bought the No. 2 before I got to the house.

He did a nice job on the 12, but the draw grate is not going in easily. He sold it to me with the grate out of the stove. I have a 14 I plan on checking to see how they're supposed to fit.

I'll post more info when I can.

Chris

Hi Guys - Unfortunately Greg, the owner of the Crawford No. 3 never gave me a chance to come see the stove. I emailed him several times, and was ready to blast down to check it out. He was off the grid for over a week, and finally sent me a two word answer - "It's Sold" - people!

There's more out there - not that I need any more!

Thanks for the kind offer - I'd like to find a Crawford base heater, at a reasonable price. I only have one Crawford - a really nice parlor I got locally last winter, for $250. Our mutual friend in Avon had a nice one for sale. I like Crawfords, especially since they were made in Watertown, MA.

Cheers - Chris

One Dollar - Thanks for the info - I have given up trying to reach this guy Greg. He hasn't answered most of my emails. I tried to make it very clear I was willing to come right down to see the stove.

Maybe someone else will have better luck?

Hmmm - On the other hand - maybe I'll give him another chance - just kidding - I need another stove like a hole in the head!

I finally got hold of Greg. I'm meeting him tomorrow afternoon to see the stove.

He says it's missing the grate, trim and finial/dome.

I think they can be gotten.

I'll take a few pics and hopefully bring it home.

Wish me Luck - Chris
