Only a week ago, Mr. Putin was accusing Mr. Kerry of lying to Congress about the presence of militants allied with Al Qaeda in Syria. “He’s lying,” he said in televised remarks. “And he knows he’s lying. It’s sad.” -- New York Times

What's sad is that, in this case, we get the truth from Putin and not from own own Secretary of State.

But no, I would not want Putin as president. However capable he may be, his loyalties are to the rich and powerful of Russia, not to freedom as we understand it. And Putin is perfectly willing to gloss over the truth. In his Times op ed he says touchingly, “... we were also allies once, and defeated the Nazis together." He conveniently forgets to mention that, as Germany was finally defeated, Russia raced to bring as much territory as possible under its own control, not to free the countries of Eastern Europe but to possess them. So while he speaks some truths, they are self-serving truths; and he mixes them with little manipulative tugs at our heartstrings, like the above. This doesn't make him wrong, in this case, but it doesn't make me crave him as my president, either.

I don't trust Putin any more than Obama. But I think he is a far better leader. I often wondered if Putin had the US constitution to follow if he would do a better job than Obama. He definitely seems more conservative.

And this is different to our current socialist regime how? We'd be trading one idiotic tyrant for another since the uS' government seems to also only favor the rich and powerful. As for freedom....as each day passes we become more and more like slaves with very little freedom.

We the people my ass.

:P Come on, now! Which is it, a socialist regime that favors the little guy, or an oligarchic regime that favors the big guy?
:) But I know what you're saying -- sometimes it seems to favor everybody except us folks in the middle.

Sometimes? Don't you mean all the time. If it was only sometimes the American people wouldn't be put in the positions they've been put in in the last 7+ years between the jackasses in charge to the banks robbing people blind of their homes and money to all the ridiculous laws and bailouts. Sometimes I feel I was born in the wrong era. I wish I were born in the 20's. Yeah, *censored* was rough back then. But at least the government seemed to care more about their people and less about world opinion and had presidents who carried big sticks. This regime we have now, they are a bunch of whiny bitches who don't have the balls to do the right thing and only care about stuffing their purses and wallets with OUR money all the while taking OUR freedoms. I may not be smart, or know a lot of anything and I'll be the first to admit that I'm completely idiotic when it comes to politics; but I can tell when I'm being screwed by my government.

If I remember the plot, a 500,000 strong army came up from Honduras (let's, gloss over the logistics of that one) now of course the threat from our govt is much more realistic.

I am not worried about this much from a war standpoint , Obama would just grant them amnesty.

Lets see if I recall correctly but the only one that granted amnesty was back in the 80s.

ONE, One, he was a mistake. If you investigate him with an open mind it's where many of todays problems started.
