Nice pup! Love the eyes on her! 8-)

Yeah, my life is a constant source of entertainment. Guess that's why my grandma always used to tell me I should write a book!

Good morning. My Fri the 13th was not without incident. Last night on the way home I hit a deer or I should say a deer hit me. Headlamp, fender, hood and drivers door. So I stopped and the deer was still in the middle of the road. It looked dead didn't see it breathing so I figured I would just drag it to the side. I drug it about 5ft and dropped it in the ditch. This revived her as I almost got kicked by the back leg. Now its alive and flailing back on the road and a car almost gets it again. *censored* just wanted to get home. I called the police and asked if I was able to put it down. They gave me permission. I have to say a flailing deer is not easy to get a clean head shot. But beats using a tire iron. I felt terrible with her blat blat jaw was busted leg busted. At least they let me do the right thing. Now I have to get my car fixed.

Good morning all:

Well, the 507 struggled through the couple days of humid weather and it is now happy and idling along again. I could have shut it down but just couldn't bring myself to kill the fire. Good thing since we have a nice damp chilly days and nights. It is another weekend working in the shop trying to get caught up on orders. This afternoon I plan on working on the Chubby Sr I purchased. I guess you could call working on the stove a little me time. Another coal stove for my growing collection. I know, I need to post some pics. They are coming.

I looked at a couple 507's this past week, however they were completely toast. Nothing on or in the stove worth saving. I'm always amazed at the destruction some one can inflict on such nice stoves. I still have not gone to pick up my coal for the season, still burning last seasons coal. I need to find the time or find a way to make time during the week to couple to my trailer and go pick up the coal. I need to get down to my parents home to reconnect their coal furnace back to the chimney so they can fire it up when they need it. I'm going to try to wait for another two weeks. It is nice to see everyone posting to the forum. I hope everyone has a productive weekend. Remember we are now one day closer to winter and hopefully a ton of cold weather and snow. So, think snow.

The snowman.

That roof pitch looks ideal for solar panels though!

Dave,

Way to go. Start filling the freezer early !!!!!

If you have any questions about your car, feel free to call me. Remember deer collisions are comprehensive claims. Lower deductible and a non chargeable accident.

Friday wasn't too bad a day for us.

A couple more and we will have a full smoker load.

This morning started with a baseball game for the grandson and then another at 3:00.

At least I can do a little work between games.

Rick

Thanks Rick
I left the deer thinking I would get one of my friends to get it but his PU was disassembled. And I didn't want to put it in my trunk since I had no plastic. I will have to start carrying a stove bag with me. Critical defense hollow points make a mess if you don't hit just right. Plus the jaw was busted bad from hitting the car lots of blood. I believe I only have a $100 deductible on comp. Poor car owes me nothing.
The funny thing with the car is I had a slight dent already in that fender from my past stupidity but figured as soon as I get it fixed I would find a deer. And the car has just over 285,000 miles so I wasn't planning on worrying much about it. Now I guess I have to since I can't use the drivers side door very well. Well looks like I got one before it gets fixed. I have been putting about 50000 miles a year on between my truck and car and see a lot of deer. Usually I am able to avoid them except cases like this the first 2 were deer jumping off a bank and landing in my grills. This one came from behind a truck coming the other way. The truck passed next thing I know there is a deer in the front of my car. I am going for 400,000 miles out of this car. :D

Some of us had to work yesterday but that’s OK, the rest of you party while Rome is burning I’ll be the fireman. Sorry it was the Jersey Shore that was burning but who’s keeping score?

I am really disappointed in SMITTY. You beat the piss out of that Silverado and then complain when you have to fix it. Be nice to your truck and it may be nice to you.

Nice work Dave, one less dumb deer out there. I’m glad comp covers deer strikes. My wife hit one a few weeks after I dropped collision on the Bravada. Comprehensive covered it. Total loss. I learned this little gem from the insurance agent at that time “if you hit a deer it is a comprehensive claim but if a shopping cart hits your vehicle at the store you better have collision” :wtf:

Everyone have a good rest of the weekend. I’m thinking Renaissance Fair today but we’ll see what happens.
