Yup, I got his name too. I know small bulk sales to individuals would probably be a minuscule blip on their balance sheets but it would do wonders for their public relations. I guess it all boils down to if they can arrange it in a way to cover costs,...insurance, labor, facilities etc. I hope the can and do.

Hand Fed Coal Stove: Hitzer 30-95

Post by nino » Tue. Apr. 07, 2015 3:59 pm

I am new to coal as of this year using a Hitzer 30- 95. I burned wood for 35 years but my shoulder and body and amount of work is more than I can now handle. I love the Hitzer and tend it twice daily. I began with Reading Coal and it burned ok but the size of the nut was very inconsistent and it produced a good deal of ash. Recently I obtained 500 pounds of Lehigh to get me through the end of March and early April and it is unbelievable. It burns hot and leaves very little ash...have gotten 19 hour and 24 hour burns running 175 top temps. Will be shutting her down for the season later this week as we are awaiting 50 degree days.

That's a good question Mike. I got some bagged coal up there last fall and it was $7.50 for a 50 pound bag, That's $300 a ton! A very high price when you consider their bulk is $160 a ton.

Last I knew it was about $210 per ton for 40lb bags but best to call ahead. Their number is on this site
