This supplier is one of the advertiser right here...anyone have any experiences in coal dealings?
Right in their ad here they state that their Coal now available in 1/4 ton increments...seems like agood way to get some for a test burn.
If or when people run low on coal at home latter this season and supplies may low or breakers shut down due to extended low temps, it would be good to know who to go to for coal.
Best to be prepared. ..Don't get caught in the mad scramble for more coal, get more than enough now.

I was under the impression that Lehigh coal was a full T/L or nothing proposition. Do they now offer coal in any quantities?McGiever wrote:This supplier is one of the advertiser right here...anyone have any experiences in coal dealings?

I beleive they were selling smaller loads last winter from a local plaza parking lot on Saturdays...there is an older thread on that.

They are not offering small quantities anymore,I can get smaller quantities for people, but they got shut down at CVS because of the PA dept Weights and measures...

I wanted to buy a tt load this spring so it was off my '' to-do list''. After discussing it with one of the veterans here, I pulled the trigger and called Terry at Leigh and had him send out a load of rice.
It worked out great. My 520 likes it, burns nice, ash seams good. I have burned 2 blue 55 gal. barrels sense June 1st for DHW.

Same BS happened over at Hudson, they were selling it for $3 a 5 gallon bucket which was more than fair at the time becsue it was only a little more than the bulk. Nope... can't do that. <sigh> I think for while they were using a small scale but they might of scrapped that idea, I believe they ended up having to set a half ton minimum.mattcoalburner wrote:They are not offering small quantities anymore,I can get smaller quantities for people, but they got shut down at CVS because of the PA dept Weights and measures...

So, is the current Lehigh Coal ad located here accurate?
Can one buy Lehigh coal in small ,1/4 ton increments?
Is this only available from Lehigh's coal yard during regular hours?

Unfortunately the info up top is no longer valid.
I talked to Terry about a month ago and you can only get bulk deliveries,
No more 1/4 tons. If you have the room for about 22 tons, you get
a great deal though! Pickup trucks are not allowed into the yard
For insurance reasons. He did say that if I sign a waiver of sorts at
the scale house I could pick up five tons or so with my single axle.
All the folks on here that have bought their coal say they like it.
Hope to find out for myself soon. October is here!

Thanks for helping clear things up.
Last year I had some UAE left over from the previous year (pic.). Mid season I picked up 1/2 ton from Gale, put a tarp over it and got a 1/2 ton from DiRenzo, was not impressed with the heat and excessive ash. Looked to be mostly white ash.

So this is what used to be called Lehigh Coal and Navigation? What is Super Rice? Just larger sized rice coal?
