I'm burning wood in my 50-93 until I get coal next month and and curious about damper settings. If you should use the flapper in the back and use the front also on the ash door.I also have A MPD installed also.

I'm goin into this blind smith--but, if it were me--I'd keep the back flap at about 4 or 5 & keep the ash door vents just cracked---the MPD would depend on how much heat I wanted to keep in the stove-- probably half closed--I don't think that's very important--just sayin

That's what I have it set at now. I reset the chain to 22 loose beads also. It was at 17from the factory. Can't wait to burn coal but its nice to have the option to burn wood until I get some. It puts off some good heat with the wood can't imagine how this thing is going to crank with coal. Thanks for the info Fred.

Its going into the low 30's tonight it was 38 last and rainy. My house was 58 a tad chilly. The wood took the chill out. Was 75 in my kitchen and around 68 or so everywhere else. I have a small house 1200' or so and I'm not heating the basement.
