Gasket Replacement?

Gasket Replacement?

PostBy: Lee1 On: Thu Sep 19, 2013 11:00 am

Gents, I have a Alaska 3 channing, this winter (2013 - 2014) will be its 6 years of use. My question is do you think it needs a total gasket replacement done? It seems ok with no problems last season. Wondering what other owners do?

Just for the record---I replace all my gaskets every 2 yrs which is probably not really necessary, but I'd sure hate to have a middle of season problem--PLUS--it's not like their very expensive:) little work---little money

I replace my gaskets every year. You can check a gasket with the dollar test. Close a dollar bill in the door and if you can pull it out easily, change the gasket. Take care, Lisa

dollar bill test and replace when you fail the test (might be 1 year, might be 10 years)

I leave them alone unless they look too worn, coming loose, or fail the dollar bill test.
