You've been there Fred, it always costs why more to get out of one than in. If I only would have lived then where I do now it would have been darn near free. A good wife & a good dog are hard to find, it's a shame the dog doesn't last as long so ya take care of the good ones. ;)

KLook-

I posted on another thread about the door armor. Buy it and install it on your doors. Easy to do and effective. Make sure you have motion lights that blind the neighbors. They are pricey, but good deterrents to would be idiots.

The simplisafe system seems to be the best for the money. I would also look into the Burglar Bombs http://burglarbomb.com/ just make sure to reach in and disarm before you open your door or you are going to pepper spray the hell out of yourself. If you aren't home, these would pretty much make sure anyone who makes entrance into your house is going to leave, quickly. If you have kids, no worries. They can be installed pointing down so they cant be reach by little hands.

Outside of that, it is a crap shoot. I would prefer someone breaks in while we are gone then when I am home. If I am home I am going to have to clean up one hell of a mess, I cant imagine that stuff comes out of the walls or carpet all that well (meaning blood, bone, and all the gooey stuff in between).

If you have stuff you don't want stolen, secure it in a safe that is extremely heavy and bolted into the foundation.

That thought is echoed many times after the dog eats the kid. Why is that?

Hey Rwalker, good advice on the lights. The ones that are already on the house don't work, gotta replace them or the motion sensors on them. I was talking with Safemart and the cost was to high for monitoring. They gave me all kinds of great discounts and then added them right back on in monitoring. I will probably go with Simplisafe as it is the cheapest for what you get. I wanted to monitor the house with my smart phone but the monitoring package is too expensive.

Franco, I missed the writing comment. Indeed, I seem to have a bunch of situations and the ability to weave the tale. My younger brother is light years ahead of me however. When the family gets together it is an intimidating back and forth. Our sisters spouses and our brothers first wife would just sit speechless. And as you can imagine, knowing how I get in here, it gets pretty acidic. But we let it roll of off us and keep on coming back for more. If you can't take the heat.....

The guns are real, but the equipment is fake.
