Well its been a long weekend, started friday after i found an ad on graigslist for a Herald base heater.
After about 10 emails to this person on saturday i thought it was long gone . Needless to say it was still available.
After a long phone conversation we had a deal.
Woke up on sunday at 5:00 am ,loaded up the wife and we set off on a road trip to albany ny.
4 hrs of driving we finally got there. Approaching the entrance to his driveway i seen it in his driveway.
It was love at first sight like a kid in a candy store.
Couldnt wait to get out of the van and meet the gentleman. Then i started my look over of the beauty.
Looked long and hard at it, then the negotiating started but i had in my favor the long ride from PA 4 hrs long.
Needless to say i won! Loaded this beast in the van shook his hand and thanked him.
We then turned and burned home. 4 hrs later we arrived home. Then it was like christmas !!!
Well i bet you all wanna know what i bought and paid for my item.

Super, what a deal....
You know, I drove about 5.5 Hrs to get to Bryant and the same on the way back. But still very far from the price you got on that stove. For the same price I could easily go down from Québec to your home but not shure you will help me to load the Herald in my vehicule :)
Don't forget tons of photos........

Pics should be up tomm sometime. I was sitting bye her all night. Just thinking of what all needs to be done to her. All i could say to myself is wow she is BIG!!!
Im ready to start tearing into her.
Question for you guys, im thinking about putting a new barrel on her. Does anybody know what kind of sheet steel it is made out of? And what gauge it is?
Does anybody sell them already cut, if soo whats the price?
What size and gauge is the back pipe?

I wanna do this once, so while its apart i might as well replace them.
Somebody told me back in the day it was called" russian steel" ?
Anybody know what nickel plating is going for these days?

But she is really really big ,i can only think of the heat its going to produce.
Look for pics tomm night.

Fantastic find! You feel like I felt when I got my Glenwood for $180.00 (the finial from the stove is almost worth that  ), anyways... This is indeed one of the beauties made by the Weir Stove Co. in Taunton (known better as Glenwood) but also built for many other companies at that time such as this one so the quality of castings should be great! You have a nice project to work on so keep us posted!
