Thanks for all the great comments fellas, and for all the help the forum provided. I enjoy reading all the stories, comments and information about all the different antique stoves. I will cut my teeth on heating with the Stewart Oak here and maybe some day move up to a base burner but for now I am tickled to have this wonderful old Beauty heating my home. I just wish I would've gotten the wake up call about 15 years ago. We'll better late then never I guess. Winter just got a little more enjoyable.

I topped off the 270 Stewart Oak last night around midnight and she is not anywhere near ready to be shook down and refilled yet which pleases me because it's not real cold yet but when it does get real cold I know I will probably be able to still get a good 12 to 15 hour burn out of her before she needs tending. What a great stove so far,
