2013 Jacktown Fall Harvest Show

PostBy: mmcoal On: Wed Oct 02, 2013 9:02 am

Just curious how many here attend the Jacktown engine shows in Bangor, Pa? The fall show is coming up and I am real excited. I use to display my old Briggs engines at the shows all the time, but haven't had the time in past years unfortunately. Best part is, my one son is the same age now that I was when my parents started taking me to the Jacktown shows. If anyone is interested in more info they have a website: www.jacktown.org

I hope to be there for the duration. It is a great show in a beautiful location. My favorite engine for Jacktown has been giving me fitz over spark, so I will have to dust off somebody else for the event.I am all set for the Jacktown ice cream and that home made bean soup!! The countdown has started. Mike

I'll be there if I can Dad to watch the coal yard. Been going for more than 30 yrs. Great food, ice cream, funnel cake etc. I haven't been to the Snow show in a few years but I get to the others at least 1 day each. Like the smell of bit coal and old gas engines.

Excellent turn out today, hopefully tomorrow will be just as good for them. Started out nice and then got a little cloudy and breezy.

I went early, lots to see. Only a couple of coal stoves for sale. The wood boiler guys were a no show this time. It's to bad that their steam tractors are out of service, Hopefully they will find the funds to have them rebuilt.

They had their steam roller going at least. Rough and Tumble out in Kinzer had a nice array of steam tractors. I saw someone in the flea market area yesterday looking for coal stoker boilers.

Excellent show for all that attended this year.An especially great bunch of exibitors come together at Jacktown which makes the experience top rated. For the exibitors,it can be like a non electronic forum dealing with combustion, ignition, where to get parts, who is selling what, etc, etc. When I got home Sunday night the house was at 63 degrees and the first priority was to use the second match [that puts me out of the club because we were gone 5 days] and fire up the keystoker. It was making heat within the hour. Yesterday it took quite a while to wipe it all down and put it away until next year.Next comes Snow Show 2014 at Jacktown. No matter the weather, that Snow Show seems to get a little bigger each year. Can't wait. Mike

Your not kidding. I can even remember when the snow show was mainly concentrated just around the bonfire area. Much larger the last time I went.
