Chimney adapter replacement

PostBy: Floydman89 On: Thu Oct 03, 2013 6:57 pm

After 5 years of use I need to replace my chimney smoke pipe adapter. From what I can tell the whole chimney needs to come out.. I have the 6T-FSP ceiling mount. Looking for advise. Thanks

Nope. I have a Selkirk stainless steel chimney. The adapter piece that hangs from the ceiling is rotted out. This is where the single wall pipe slides over this adapter.. I found 2 adapters online.. There is one for new installation and one for a retro.. The new installation one looks like it connects to the triple wall pipe and then drops down thru the support.. No way to replace it without removing the whole chimney... The retro slides up and attaches with screws.. No need to remove the chimney.. Has anyone else had this issue? What is the best fix? Should I remove the chimney and use the adapter with the collar or cut the old adapter pipe off and use the retro?
