hook up stove

i guess we just found the spot for your stove. 8 seems to be the # and 200 as low as it will go. given ho wmuch larger it is than mine that's still pretty impressive.

i'd go back to that for the night and see what happens.

i wish some of these other guys that own 1600's would give some input.

yeah sorry for all the confusion, just trying to make sure i have this set up properly, and also want to see how low you can go as far as temp before coal fire goes out. being it will be warmer next few days.

i completely understand. i think you're dead on where you are at bead 8, flap just open, for the temp you want.

it's likely that might be about right for the size of your house.

i can't remember what thread it's in but one of the other more senior members just posted running coal at near 100* of output on dead coast.

200* at 1.25 is good for me right now, on Thursday when it's 62+ here i'm going to try lower.

i really should have given this an answer.

at the time, when your house was comfortable and you still had 200-250 coming off the stove, the bead 7 slack adjustment and 3.5 bi metal position would have been your "effective" lowest setting.

you could have turned it all the way up from there and the stove would have put out about the same heat as the bead 8 adjustment at bi metal setting 2.

this is something to remember if you ever have to be away and you want the double assurance that some other well intentioned party can't turn the stove up into the "red" zone.

if that's too warm, you could try 2 or 1.5 on the dial in an hour or so the flap will will be right back to barely open with periods of closed too. will bring house temp. down.
