Help / advice needed getting ready for the season

PostBy: Floydman89 On: Mon Oct 07, 2013 12:44 pm

Hi, 5 years ago I had professionally installed a new stainless steel chimney & a Hitzer 30-95 Stove. Every year but this year I took down my stove pipe over the non-heating season .. thinking I'd replace it this year. I took down the pipe and found a rotted out stove pipe adapter.

I have the 6'' Selkirk Flat Ceiling Support Kit - 6T-FCK - and about 11 feet of pipe thru the roof.

The actual part I'm talking about is listed as : Stove Pipe Adapter DSAC and it says for NEW Installs.
They make a retro which is listed as a DSA ..

My question is .. has any one else experienced this problem? Should I go and order a DSA?? and cut out the old DSAC??
Or should the chimney be removed and looked at. .and have a NEW DSAC installed??

I'd like to do the work myself. I don't want to pay the labor change when I can physically do it.

Any advice would be appreciated..

Fred's right but it has to be replaced. The pieces can be un coupled in the middle and just lifted out in two sections. New piece will probably go in just like old and hopefully screws instead of nails were used. All this is assuming you have easy access.
