Harmon DVC 500 out of production?

Harmon DVC 500 out of production?

PostBy: jim02ss On: Sun Oct 13, 2013 10:44 am

Well Im just getting around to cleaning my DVC 500 before season start up.

I need a few parts..... and i noticed Harmon doesn't say anything about the DVC 500 on the site anymore. Has this model been discontinued?

I had to replace one of the rheostats on the circuit board last year so i found a guy on ebay selling them. I bought 3 even thou i only needed one.

This year i want to replace the vent pipe gaskets. A few of them are getting shot and are torn now so I looked on there web site for a parts section but there isnt one. I'll have to call I guess. But i also noticed that the dvc 500 isnt on there site anymore.

Ive had the stove for 6 years and I love it.

Heres another question. how far do you dvc500 owners disassemble yours for cleaning and maintenance?

I just found my sales receipt and mine turns 13 on Oct.28! All I have done is use a good shop vac on everything, with a narrow extension for the fines tray compartment. You could remove your grates, but I never have,to clean under them,or just inspect for blockages. If blocked, find a poker to clean out the holes.Vac again over the grates, and you should be fine.If it ain't broke, don't fix it.Vac thru the fines compartment pulls stuff out that is under grates without their removal.

Jim,

Yes Harman has discontinued the DVC500. Parts should be available I'm told for many years to come. They have also discontinued several other coal products.

Most likely a DS Machine Stove Product. I'm starting to see a real beauty in a non electric dependent stove. If the lights go out,no sweat. Until the Harman Stoker becomes unsupportable I'm going to run with it. I will never send new stove money their way again. And,as a footnote,if I had need of a smaller stove for heating a small open floor plan, like a cabin or trailer,I'd bust a call to Larry T. and put the money into a refurb Chubby. Larry's no Corporate Bozo ! :notworthy:

I would concur HB...
DS Machine stoves...
Solid, no electric and KISS...
I will always have something that runs when the power goes out...
And the genny fails or runs out of fuel...
DSM is my choice...

I'll bet a paycheck that 100 years from now there will still be twice as many Crawfords and Glenwoods in service than any Harmon product. Too bad we'll be all dead by then to laugh about it.
