MD here I come

PostBy: Rick 386 On: Sun Oct 13, 2013 10:44 pm

Early muzzleloader opens in MD on Thursday , Oct 17th.

Time to go sit up in my "chateau" and sit in my Staples Secretary chair and see if some deer walk into my shooting lanes.

I didn't take any pics while we were putting it in place but I will take some when I get down there.

Now if only I can stay awake long enough to see a deer. Been working for 3 weeks straight just to get away. Yeah I know I bitch about it every year but that is what it takes for me to get away. I just care too much about my customers to just walk away without getting them back in their cars before I go away for 3 whole friggin days. Meanwhile they have no problems dropping off their car and telling me that they will be gone for 10 days on their vacation !!!!!!

And yep the grandson is going along again. But I got to outshoot the little guy this year. He was relentless on his outgunning me last year. Love him dearly but he's got to be put in his place......... lol

So I got me a sitting appliance for the "treestand."

What do you think Dave ??? Perhaps your dad needs one of these ??

I checked it out after assembly and it does lay back a little. Perfect for siesta time. I needed one with the arms as my other chair wouldn't keep me in place during those not so alert times !!!!!!

I'm not a purist when it comes to hunting down there. So for all you haters out there, stuff it. We are there to get meat for the freezer, that is all. We lease the property and the landowners want the herd thinned. It is so thick down there you can't begin to put on any type drives, etc. We need to cut out shooting lanes just so we can see them coming.

I'm getting smarter as I age. The knees and shoulder have taken a pounding over the years. And we now have the 4 wheeler to drag them out. That is the grandson's job. He likes to drive it. I usually go make sure the deer is laying there then call him. I tell him he has to track it for me. So we are teaching tracking skills at an early age. When he finds it, of course we make a big deal out of his tracking ability.......

Now what I need is an electric shocker mechanism tripped by approaching deer so I could just sleep until it is time to :rambo3:

It really is tiring down there. We get up around 0345, leave place by 0400 to get there by 0500. Our rules state we have to be parked 1/2 hour before first light and cannot leave the parking areas until 1/2 hour after total darkness. Then the drive back to our place. Grab some chow, a shower and then hit the rack to do it all over again the next day.

The wife doesn't realize the sacrifices I make just to put meat on the table .....................
