Getting ready to fire it up and noticed a crack all the way down top to bottom on the glass. It was fine when I shut her down and got her ready for summer.
Can I still use the koker until I get a replacement? What would have caused it? Do they eventually weaken in time?( It is probably four or five years old)
Thoughts and comments?

I have a spare. I would not use my stove if it was not as configured from new. Safety is always the way to go. Sorry to be so negative to less than perfect.

I found a crack in mine right before I started it up several years ago, didn't want to postpone the startup so I just put a good smear of high temp silicon on & worked it in with my finger on both sides. Got a new glass & maybe one of these days I'll get brave enough to attempt a change but those little bolts look like snappers to me so it will be after a shut down for sure.

x2. I've had bad experiences with bolts that hold the window glass becoming fatigued and breaking off with very little force applied. I have no direct experience with those bolts on a Koker, but I agree with samhill that a temporary seal should be ok, and that you should allow time for things to go wrong when changing the glass.samhill wrote:I found a crack in mine right before I started it up several years ago, didn't want to postpone the startup so I just put a good smear of high temp silicon on & worked it in with my finger on both sides. Thanks for the advice Sierra 2001, I'll order a replacement with a spare. In the meantime, I'll take Samhill's and Mike's advice with the high temp silicone and wait if possible for shutdown to try replacing it.
