I'd buy this over any other explanation.

In a phenomenon known as the nocebo effect -- the opposite of the placebo effect -- people can convince themselves that something is producing harm.

I've spent some time near a few of these things and have only once heard the blades spinning and it's not that loud. If I was in a house with the TV on, I seriously doubt I'd notice.

These people are bombarded with RF and EMF all day long but somehow, this is ruining their lives?

Frankly, people with that weak of a constitution should probably be weeded out of the gene pool.

Sam.

How about the entire Kennedy clan (and others) down on the Cape who for years have done everything they could do, and then some to stop Cape Wind from becoming a reality. Stated reason for not wanting Cape Wind...... "It would disturb their view of the Ocean". That was their collective reason Sam. Their precious view. Not the boondoggle of CapeWinds financing... No, no problem with that.. It was the VIEW.

Very often it seems those who crow the loudest for clean energy suddenly get a case of NIMBYS when it happens. Sounds like WTS is the latest salvo to be tried.

I was just being a bit sarcastic, I think everyone wants clean energy as long as there is nothing to pay be it a view or dollars, noise, pollution, radioactive waste or anything else that may come with it. Just like everything in America we want it all as long as it effects someone else & not us, The American Way. I really think we will end up with a bit of everything, solar will become better & less costly but the sun doesn't always shine & they are getting better with that, the wind doesn't always blow, nukes are dangerous & leave waste, coal is dirty & leaves waste so as long as it's there whenever you flip the switch most don't care where it came from just what they have to pay.

Sam I know you were being sarcastic and I think you are right. We will wind up with a bit of everything as "clean and renewable" energy continues to take hold.

Serioulsy though the left leaning limp wristed pinko's down on the Cape have literlly *censored* a brick trying to stop Cape Wind. Screaming that it would ruin the view. Personaly I would be elated to have rows of windmills in my ocean view at my compound down at the Cape. If I owned a compound down at the Cape!! Even if those windmills only stood about 6 inches tall on the horizon!

Funny this topic happens today as we are having a firm come over next month to do a solar study at the house. If the cost is acceptable and the product is as well then we will go solar.

I think they may be on to something. Nobody around here has any headaches or Tourette’s and we have no windmill which confirms the cause and effect relationship between windmills and brain disorders. Tear down the windmills and build the Hyannis Port Nuclear Power Station.

:( You probably know that lights flashing at the right frequency can bring on epileptic seizures in sensitive people. Why would powerful low-frequency sound waves, just below the (human) audible frequency, not also cause physical problems for some people? There are too many complaints from otherwise-rational and normal people, to just shrug this off as imagination. Go sit in that guy's house, put your hand on the shaking walls, then say it's all in his head. I'm all for wind power, but there does appear to be a need to keep the turbines away from people. Check out this article on sound cannons and the effects of "infrasound" that comes from devices other than wind turbines: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonic_weapon

Seeing how I probably started something here I should probably comment further. I'm not against clean energy, but right now the liberals are ramming this clean energy crap down our throats and the payback just isn't there yet. Let the free market and the technology catch up. Right now spending billions on windmills has little to no effect on the electrical grid. The windmills I drive by in Mass. btw are usually idle. Fox 25 news recently did a story on the idle windmills. I wonder how much the solar panel farms on abandoned factory sites in Mass. are contributing to the grid. God forbid we build a new factory and get people to work. Although the northeast is a lost cause anyways. My wifes aunt in Michigan has windmills all around her diary farm so I asked her if her energy bill has gone down answer NO! Although the land owners do get royalties. I think hydro and nuclear should be the new power source. Before I get ripped for the percentage of windmill power going to the grid I don't know and really don't care. To busy working to support liberalism. I can't believe its that much to make a difference though. My opinion. Oh and notice how the elite on the Cape have been fighting Cape Wind for years. God forbid they practice thier beliefs. Matt

I know there were studies done where a persons heartbeat would take on the same rhythm as a barely audible sound & then there is the experiment with a group of metro-domes that are started randomly & in a relatively short they come in sync with one another so there may be something to it.
Then again there was a lady that bought a house a few miles away from the steel mill I worked at which was there for 150 years or so, anyhow she complained about night time noise, they did a study & found she was correct. After an undisclosed amount of money the noise no longer was a bother, funny how money can cure things.
