Can I use my Direct Vent in a Chimney ?

PostBy: vsantoro On: Fri Oct 25, 2013 11:17 am

Hi, new to the forum. Did some browsing and there is some very knowledgeable people here. Hoping for some assistance.

I have an Alaska Kast Console coal stove with direct vent. Works great , no issues, saves a ton of cash by not buying Kerosene for my furnace.

Im moving and taking the coal stove with me. The new house has a wood stove piped into a chimney. can I pipe my coal stove into the chimney instead of the wood stove ?
My direct vent currently goes right through my wall outside. (in my current house)
The new house the piping would go out of the stove, up about 6 feet, then into the chimney and was unsure if I can do this with direct vent. Would there be some draft issues ?
Thank you for any input.

Appears you don't need to use the direct vent, save yourself some electric. :)

Venting Options: Masonry, Class A, Power Vent, Direct Vent (ask Dealer for information)

I would imagine there is some modifications that need to be made.

Help with Alaska Direct Vent

Looking at an Alaska Gnome 40.
Alaska sells a kit to vent through a wooden wall but I will be venting through concrete block.

Does anyone have a picture of their exhaust system? Alaska or other.
I understand Alaska's system looks like a dryer vent but can't find an actual photo,
