I feel your pain, I just ordered a Fasco B30. Not running and hot to the touch, I guess that means she *censored* the bed. I don’t know how long she lasted, maybe 5 years give or take running 24/7/365. I am just glad it happened now when it is cool outside because it is really not necessary to have this time of the year.

By, by to another 90 bucks. :cry2:

dcrane wrote:Just to add some info... back in the 80's the best blowers (bar none) were made by a Company called "Fasco" (it was well know throughout the stove industry that these were the Cadillac of blowers)... im not sure how they are now but i cant imagine a company having that kind of reputation changing their business.

The Fasco is OE in the Harman and I've vaporized three of them already. They only have sleeve bushings and the way they mount, the oil holes face down so it's not a very good design.

This is a circulation fan, not a combustion fan BTW.

I bought the Dayton because I figured the ball bearings would last near forever.

The fiberglass, while not perfect by any means, does a fair job of keeping the fan blade clean and picks up more dust than you'd think. I normally have to replace it once a month.

I haven't had the ambition or time today to pull it apart and see what failed but it sounds like a coffee grinder...

I suspect the outboard bearing. With a long fan the alignment has to be perfect or else the bearing has to be self aligning.

I don't understand why these are failing so quickly for you. Must be some really bad luck. Like I said, my original Fasco fan still runs it's just noisy. That one is over 20 years old. The new one is 2-3 years old. No filters used on mine either.

I hate to say this, but I believe it has to do with operator--calm down Jeff ;) --Like SB said, I'd lose the filters if I got that one quieted down. Maybe Larry can jump in & throw out the odds of 4 motors in 10 yrs-- I'm sure they're not pretty

Hmm, I'm told that on the back of my Hitzer 50-93 is a blower fan, it sure looks like it. One day I must inspect closer. I cut some sort of electric lead off as I might trip over it. Meanwhile silence is golden. I am looking for a totally quiet fan and I think I have found it.

If I install this would people think I was eccentric?

Could the filter be slowing down air flow making it run hotter?
