Disgusted...Harman Super Mag install

Could it be then the installer did it wrong??? I know one thing. This machine is a beast and in loading and unloading many things can happen to it if the wrong people or tools aren't used. I did my own install and worried about knocking something out of wack one way or the other. Just saying. I hope it's Harmans fault. Easy to blame them.

He's probably got it running and trying to harness it all. Been there done that last Sunday.. It took me a few days to perfect it.

Ok.
Wanted to run it a couple hours before my report.
And, didn't get home from work til 6.

They came. They saw. They conquered.

The auger motor wire got caught in the auger mechanism itself and was chewed to H E L L.
(The wires were never "tied out of the way!" at factory!!!

Spliced that.
Tested system.
Auger motor wouldn't shut off.
Board "fried"
New control board installed.
VIOLA!

Perfection

Not that bad here, about 40 but dropping.
My house is a sieve...mrs sooooo happy...that is, after I killed the breaker to the hard wired smoke detectors - and installed three new battery operated ones in "better" spots.

Good ! Now you can take your time and tune it. Enjoy the Heat. And yes,I am an un-abashed Re-badged(after the buy-out and subsequent cheapening)Harman Basher. Mine's the old bullet-proof quality Harman -Built stoker from the day. I'm not jealous,I own one. I'm angry at what was done to my high quality Dealer. What he and other Dealer's went through was a damn shame. Those of us that have the Originals know what the Harman name truly meant. I wish you nothing but the best with your New Stove. That problem should have never been missed by QC or at the very least, the standard Factory build process. Your Dealer did a stand-up job. I wish him well too. In the future,I will still recommend the Leisure Line Stoker for that type of stove. Those boys have lived here on the Board, and they've forsaken a lot of cash to build their stokers here. Their quality control is held by them, and it shows. Make no bones about,I truly do wish you and CaptCaper all the best, and a long stove life to you both. Again,Enjoy The Heat ! :) :)

Thanks HB.
I understand your stance, I do.
Gotta Admit, feel a bit guilty not choosing LL after this experience.
But I must give credit to my dealer for correcting this factory QC failure.
I'm not sure how I missed it chasing wires but I did, no matter, same end result I guess.
I too hope this stove keeps churning out good heat.

Enjoy it....Just your luck if you got a LL you might get a dealer who wouldn't take care of you. LL seemed kind of Hoaky to me that is why I didn't get one. Not a very good dealer network as well at least here in NH.
I talked to my Blazcek coal dealer and he has a Super Mag now for 5 years running these long NH winters. He also has 6 customers who has them as well and no one he said has had any issues with the stove. Make sure you oil the oil caps on the shafts in the back every season.

Great news Spur! never feel guilty about learning new things... I don't think Harmon has a Q/C dept anymore, just a bunch a chinamen assembling things maybe
but you got past the hurdle and that's what counts! we will all know to look out for similar problems if it comes up again in the future with other Harmon buyers, so we are thankful you posted it
Post up the name of the great dealership that took care of this mess :punk:
