what is the correct way to be setting the boiler on. I see some on blocks and other on a slab. my boiler is a 1965 efm 520 round door , with that boiler I should have the option of three locations for the feed screw correct?

If you have room in your cellar and a smooth, level floor you can use a skid system.
You would never have to manually lift coal.
In order to use a skid system, with a floor auger box with removable skids with shutters and bulk bags, you must use blocks no taller than 1-7/8". This gives you the proper room for the auger to fit under the skid. EFM is the only boiler with a low enough auger angle to do this. You are lucky to have an EFM.
You would need 21 concrete blocks, 3" x 6" x 1-7/8". Home Depot sells them.
The other advantage of the skid system is you never have to worry about a blocked auger. Just close the skid gates, lift the skid off and fix the problem should it ever happen.
