Imho an excellent energy saving accessory, as far as residential hydronics are concerned maybe that any person can do to save fuel.
The Honeywell7228 aquastat was a great selling feature on the wl110 when I was shopping for a new boiler, mainly because I have used them allot in the past with the outdoor reset and many raved over the savings on their oil boilers. I myself never used an odr until now at my house. I stumbled on one that was for sale on Ebay new & made an offer of 100 bucks (normal costs 150.00 wholesale)thank you Google. the little while I've owned this boiler I've noticed a considerable savings in coal from warm days to the few days below 25 degrees. I used same settings I used on oil setups and can appreciate the extra coal in the bin each day. any one else use an odr on their wl 110?

I've used them on gas and oil boilers and quickly discarded them. Nothing but trouble, and with an old poorly insulated houses, unworkable. Just my experience. On modern reasonably insulated homes, do able, but the set up and tuning....a real bother. Half my heat buddies like'm, but anybody who is responsible for call backs won't use them.

sorry to hear that, I seemed to have Good results with the electronic one from Honeywell, never used a wireless one though, they may b crap. tuning is quite easy on older homes I don't give as far a span on boiler low setting but then maybe I just was lucky? :?:

Your skills are better than mine. What I found -using a couple different hard wired resets, was call for hotter boiler temp
was sloooow-like cold house slow. What ever the program was, it just could not respond appropriately to these old houses. I adjusted again and again, could never get it. Got close once or twice, then a windy day, bam, cold house. So, I asked a couple plumber
friends and they laughed-said on an older house, not going to work. A buddy has an oil company, does installs etc. He won't use
them at all!Not to sell more oil, but to keep the cold house calls to a minimum. So, seasonally, I just pop down and change the boiler temp manually. 135 summer,180 winter, 155 spring and fall. Saves some cash, but not as good as a well matched auto reset.

we have had some weird weather this year. from 55~12 degrees, so far the reset seems to work pretty good, I did have to reset the boost temp time up to 20 minutes, but coal takes awhile to" get going" real good. pretty much hands off, except for the ashes and coal fill. love how quiet it runs

I am using a "Hydrostat" on my boiler that adjusts the boiler temperature based on heat call activity...so far the boiler has not gone over 160 degrees, most of the time it runs 140-150 degrees. Not sure if it is saving me any coal, but the house temperature is very consistent.

only complaint I've had was upstairs zone not keeping up on colder nights, played with the temps for the "boost" setting. when the reset had it turned down to like 140, and it couldn't make temp in twenty minutes boost will kick it up like 10 degrees every twenty minutes. Turns out the taco flocheck wasnt lifting off its seat all the way, its located on the return line. I installed it after noticing heat migration up the return line about two weeks ago, couple of turns on the adjusting screw for bypass fixed the issue.
i need to check out a hydrostat, who makes it?

Hydrolevel. They also make an outdoor reset kit that plugs in.
