Really.....So you think your plan won't be cancelled so you can have birth control? Will you pay the fine or pay more money? Or even, will you be taxed for a Cadillac plan like my brother in law? There is no evading it, you will pay more. There may be a group of people that fit between the cracks, but it is looking like a dam small group.

Kevin

Kevin, I don't have any idea what the impact will be long term. My current plan covers birth control, and I recently got a letter that said it meets the requirements of the Affordable Health Care Act...so I did not bother to research it any farther. My monthly contribution has not changed, but perhaps the company's has.

My wife just completed open enrollment for her plan also, no significant changes (at least not yet) for her either.

Like Rob I have received letters saying both my HC policies meet the requirements. I guess I won't know if there is any price difference until Jan. 1 or there abouts, one is free (paid by you all) VA & the other is UPMC which I pay for thru my past employer or union or combination of the two. They are far from Cadillac plans but not bad, the one I pay for is pricey & always has been but hey at age 66 I can still have childbirth covered but nothing for dental. No hurry here to even try to look on the website since it probably won't affect me.

The name may fit Flyer but I have said thank- you to all in several other threads. I don't use or abuse it & the thing that gets me POed is that my paid for Ins. won't reimburse the VA for anything, believe me I have tried but I'm not going to pay a co-pay when I can get it for free from you, once again thanks.

I am just messing with ya. There are people who earn the benefits and there are those who surely don't. I am sure you fall into the earned. But what fun would that be. :D

Got a new letter today...says that because our health plan is so good the company has to pay extra Federal taxes.

Any chance the company is going to fix that situation?

If by "fix it" you mean reduce benefits and increase employee contribution, I expect you are correct. No changes for 2014, but there is a big brochure I haven't read yet about how the employees need to help them reduce costs to keep benefits "even similar" to what we have now down the road. Gotta love it...some of the best benefits in the industry for 50 years and now it is being "averaged out". I usually don't participate in political discussions, but sadly this one is hitting pretty close to home.

Yup, that's what I meant. No way is any company in their right mind going to pay extra tax on top of everything else they pay.

This is going to hit everyone, not only close to home, but directly in the wallet.

Right now we are only seeing the loss of individual insurance policies up for renewal in January '14. A lot of people won't know if they are losing their individual policies until FEB, MAR or later in the year when it comes time for them to renew. And you forget that the Mandate on Businesses was postponed a year to OCT '14. That's when all of us with coverage through our jobs will see the cancelation notices. That's when the regulations written by unelected individuals will kick in and even the smallest change to a policy will force it to lose it's "grandfathered" status. That's when the count of people losing their health insurance is expected to hit 93 million. I've already been told not to look for any cost of living or step increase. Rumor also has it that we will be losing our spousal coverage. Unfortunately, the worst is yet to come.

And how long do you think that will last?

Any chance that the salary increases will be smaller or non existent next year?

Even MA state subsidized health insurance recipients are getting notices that they must "re-enroll" in a "new" plan .... :gee: Wonder if theirs is the only plan going down in price? :|

They had a company come in at work and perform the blood tests. I opted out, something didn't seem right about it. They were screening people and reading the results out loud to the entire room full of employees that were also getting tests done. They were also using BMI for health, which all know is bunk. A couple guys that I know are in phenomenal shape were being told they are overweight and not healthy, yet they run 10+ miles a day, some of them regularly do marathons. If I don't have the blood work done by Jan 01, my rate goes to 5% from the 1.5% I paid this year. I decided I am going to have my family doctor do the blood work, fill out the form, and fax my results in, NOT have it done by this government appointment company.

What I don't understand is why the State Police do not have to have the blood work done, just Corrections, PennDot, and the Game Commission. Strange. I know where it is all leading. They will make you pay more based on your screening. Maybe not next year or the year after, but it is coming. Good for me I guess that the meds I take keep my bp super low and my cholesterol and blood sugar are always excellent. I would like to see them jack my rates because I am 5'9" and 225 pounds with excellent blood work...

Hail To The King!

Welcome to the New World Order!
