KingCoal is right! I'm asking how much coal the various hand fired stoves hoppers can hold. All part of my decision making process.

Wow, no need to go to that extreme. Well appreciated though!

Off topic, but (since its my thread, and in case anyone wants to know) the S130 holds 60 pounds of pea to the hopper, and then 250 pounds of pea in the hopper, for a total of 310 lbs. of coal when full to the top.

Without knowing what the other hand fired stoves also hold, I'm not exactly sure what those stats mean, but the data is very much appreciated. Thanks Fred!!!

I'm glad somebody figured that one out-- Larry,I don't think the 50-93 would prove itself complicated enough for your liking ;)

27 # of coal in DSM 1400 hopper sitting flat and full to the top. that's about 1 .5 full hods.

going on that you would have at least 60# of coal in the fire box to support it. i figure that's about right 3 full hods had it ready to fill the hopper.

Those numbers sound low by about half. I know my 50-93 hopper will swallow a 40lb bag without overfilling with a full bed underneath. Hitzer claims it holds 50lbs.

Could be light JB--I usually do 1 hod in the fire box & then fill the hopper on first light up--I was thinkin about a hod & a half or a bit more--for the hopper--it WAS a month ago & I'll be the first to admit the old memory ain't what it used to be, if in reality it ever was. toothy

I'm sure you won't be looking for one of these, but for info sake, this model Surdiac (513) hopper would have a hard time holding 20LBs, and not even that much on the grates. Total stove capacity with a hot bed and full hopper, maybe about 35LBs? (Sorry, we're talking pea, not nut)
