Does anyone have or has made a diagram for the WL 110? I am novice try to get an idea on install but I really don't what goes where. A diagram showing what is what and what hooks to it would be great.

The manual shows which outlet is for what (the top two are supply and where the pump is mounted is return). You don't have to use the pump where it is mounted, in fact I would recommend moving it to the supply side down stream of the airscoop. The Axeman Manual has a couple diagrams in it. If you post some pictures of your existing set up I can get you pointed in the right direction (and don't worry I'll be nice! :) ).

Doing a search for boiler hookup diagrams can help as well.

Keep us posted and don't get discouraged, you will learn what you need as long as your persistent. ;)

Someone here, I think it was one of the mods, was advising against putting the pump on the supply side of a solid fuel boiler. Are there any firm guidlines that you're aware of about that?

Pumping away or supply side pumping if properly executed works great with any boiler regardless of fuel type. Just my humble opinion, and you know what they say about opinions...... :P

Hydronic Piping Practices for Zone Heating

Yanche has suggested for a coal boiler piped in a primary/secondary manner, put the primary circulator down low on the return. If I understood him correctly, in an overheat situation the circulator is less likely to get airbound.

Here some pics of the current unit. I got some pretty colorful response to these pics when I posted before!

I have some pics of my WL110 install in this part of the forum. LL110K in the Basement.

I have a limited library of books..........one Pumping Away by Dan Holohan Google and you will find.

Lots of other links such as http://www.laars.com/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=eI ... 1&mid=4041 to get a feel for pri/sec layout and theory of hydronic heating systems.

There are many subject matter experts at this forum to help advise/guide you on best practice of your install.

I'm a rookie like you but chose to take this on. Good luck with your install, my WL110 sat for a while as I gathered up parts and finalized the install layout. I had other coal fired appliances besides the original OB and planned ahead in 79 with the house build for three flues installed to allow for heating appliance flexability...........not great vision on my part............. just piss poor energy polices of our government.

Good luck with your install............Dick

Thanks Dick. I appreciate the pics and the input. I just had an installer here today to offer some advice and give me the basics of what and how to do it. He told me to cut all my existing stuff out and to build a new wall mounted manifold lay out. I have 3 zones, he said to add a 4th as a dump zone that could put heat to the basement as required. I am thinking that I can prebuild the manifold and get that in place in the mean time. Any one have good pics of manifolds that they have built? Thanks

Yep that is the way I went...... made it easy to work on and check for leaks on the work bench before cutting the pump board in.

You can do this just raise the flag for questions very knowledgeable folks will jump in.

I used PEX Supply for most of my stuff. I used pump flanges with flow checks none of my Taco 007's had any. Used isolation valves with purge port's which made it easy to purge the system. What I saved on outside labor I spent on hardware.......but a real treat from the 79 original build. Folks will help you on hardware choices and best practice.....good luck and enjoy your WI110..........Dick

here's a half a$$ shot of my install, primary shoots to back wall, midway down two closely placed tees for the secondary zones. cheap no frills, works awesome. if you decide to install circulator in supply ensure it is down stream of expansion tank or it can cause pulsation effect in system. my 2 cents :alone:

only problem I encountered was heat migration through the return line for the second story zone. I installed a flocheck in return, circulator has check valve in it for supply problem solved.
now that PVC pipe over the bin in the second pix is another story, work in progress use your imagination on that one.
hint- the coil with the holesaw welded to it came from a vending machine. . . .??!! like I said imagination ran wild on that one :wtf:
