Old steam boiler on ebay $1, removal from basement $100 in fuel and 40 hours of hard labor, saving a piece of history... priceless.

But seriously, I might have to buy it just so I can take a look at it.

It appears to be well preserved in its own oxides.

Since it's been converted to oil, it's likely missing the cast iron grates, linkage mechanism and shaker handle. Also all or part of the ash pit is likely gone. In the early '70's I was given a similar 3 section cast iron boiler. At the time I was able to buy everything to convert it back to coal except the ash pit door. I still have it anyone interested? Matt? :-)

nobody bought it for a dollar? That would make a great experimental outdoor furnace or $100 in scrap...

I realized that even I don't have enough free time to take that one on! As you said it's worth the price of admission, but unfortunately not worth the cost in time. :P :x
