Looking for a LL Dealer in Central PA Willing to Do a Trade

I am wondering if Leisure Line dealers are willing to help me out with a trade in deal for a new stove. I have an Alaska Kast Console II less then a year old that I think is slightly undersized for heating my home. I currently have the stove installed in the basement and I am looking for a stove more suited for the basement with higher btu's. Looking at the Leisure Lines, I am interested in the Pocono--more btu's, bigger hopper, coal troll, etc etc. I'd like to trade in my Alaska for a Pocono. Is this possible, and if so, what is my stove worth on a trade? Thanks.

If I remember correctly, the Hyfire II is just a few hundred dollars more than the Pocono. The Hyfire has two burners and put out 180,000 BTU's in total. I would get the Hyfire over the Pocono, but only if the cost is similar. Just a suggestion as you can never have too many btu's!

Might do better to sell it on The Forum or Craigslist and use the proceeds to buy the new unit. Assuming you can do without coal for a short time between sale and installation.

Go for the AnthraKing 110K Stoker, the king of it's type of stoves in the basement. I own and use both.

To a dealer? Not what it's worth, they need to be able to sell it for profit. I'm just throwing out some numbers here but let's your Alaska is worth $2K. If they can buy a brand new one for $2K why are they are going to pay you $2K for a used one?

Quality is free on something you use daily. Don't cheapskate on your stove purchase. Mine is paying for itself every two years and now all my stoves are free and clear but I had to cut back on loose women for a while.

Yep,now's the time to sell due to late bloomers getting in on the heating season. See what you can do while keeping the unit in service,then go from there.

A lot of ideas and advice to think about. Thanks. Yes, I did not expect a dealer to give me full value of my stove. I just considered trading to make the switch more convenient. I may try another season with the Alaska and see how it does with my recent insulation and window upgrades, but I know I eventually want to get a bigger stove or hot air furnace. The Alaska does pump out the heat, but I had to run it full bore last season just to keep the house comfortable. The great thing about these stoves is you get your money out of them very quickly, and it's not a big deal if I want to replace it with a bigger one after only 2 years of use.

As we discussed in another thread, you need to work on the air circulation in that house. The Alaska probably will not do it entirely but moving the air around will help.

Yep, I plan to work on air circulation as soon as the weather gets colder. Right now, the stoker is heating the entire house easily.
