thinking of getting one for the Rem 700 243. Anyone else here have any Harris bipods and comments on construction, mounting, overall quality?

rifle has a camo composite stock so not concerned about dinging or marring it.

Mount on this.

Don't have one ... but it's on my to-do list. One for the AR & one for the Marlin.

Yes and have always appreciated it. I have had the six inch version for more than 15 years on a Remington ADL .243. It does NOT swivel. Never shot one with a swivel. Mine extends out to a foot tall- I think. With factory ammo shooting from lying position and bipod- clover holes. The wood chuck holes around me a mostly empty. :D The action of the bipod is great. Can extend and turn the screw on each leg for level purposes or just lock them all the way out. Can easily adjust each leg with one hand. The Rubber pads on the "feet" will not scratch your verhicle paint as long as they are kept clean. Never had an issue with function or quality. Put it on my .17 cal this summer for woodchucks also. The .17 is very fun to shoot with a bipod. Was thinking of buying another but the cost grounded me. They have gone up in price. I looked at versions which were cheaper. Just NOT the same quality. They were loose jointed critters. Hands down the Harris beat the Caldwell and another one- Black Hawk maybe. Hope this helps.

i own a versa pod and Harris, both have their advantages. the versa pod sticks out the end, but is extremely versatile and the extra ends lets me swap from short to tall in a flash our move them around from rifle to rifle. the Harris is awesome tough.as nails and prestige as far as bipods go i use one on my varmint rig and am fond of it. theversa pod swivels fast and easy the Harris does not. but you will never know if you would like one until u try one, they do add weight and are a little more clumsy when walking or back packing, but well worth it for a good steady rest.

Can't say I have much experience with them, but I have the one in this link and am pretty pleased with it. I like the different mounting options too.

Probably just a knockoff of the Harris, but hard to beat the price.

Harris is ordered should be here before turkey day. we went to local range again last sunday, with G-son. Hes a bit apprehensive still about shooting a rifle with a scope. Only his second time. wish i had something with a good adjustable military open peep sight set up on it for him to practice eye sight, target picture, aim sight picture, and how to switch from one to the other while maintaining a balance betwen the pictures. Would help him understand same spot cheek place ment on stock is very important that way, for aim/target picture when aiming at target. Plus he needs to use both eyes, not close the one... with practice you eventually will mentally block out eye not aimimg per say, while aim eye will be in a natural state of focusing with both eyes open.

local wood millwright hasn't got back to me about loading bench. i need it soon if i am gonna keep shooting. about out of ammo. plenty of stuff to reload with, but nothng here sturdy enough to mount loader press on. Guess i will have to just buy the laminated maple block counter top of wood he has and build it myself. Was hoping he could do it reasonably fast with top shelfspace, 1/4"top outer edge lip for rolling items and 2 drawers under it, but still hasn't sent a concept design or price.

Got it, mounts easy. A little snug in case, but it will stretch with a little time and use.
