I like the electric back up idea too! Something will need to spin the dust off the 'ole electric meter now that my electric hot water heater is dormant. I certainly would not want to keep 55 or more gallons of water at 180 degrees for any long period of time via electric resistance means but for a week or two every winter, it might make economic sense,....maybe. Of course, if I'm away, the house only needs to be protected from freezing so presumably the heating load would be much lower.

@ Oilman: nearest distributor to PA is in NY state. Makes sense they put a lot in near there. I'm still researching the idea but the bigger Toyo unit looks promising. Hey,...it's just a bitty oil burner,....how complicated could it be?!!?

Found a dealer not too far away. $1599.00 for larger unit. Getting closer to a pull the trigger price! Lol!

Oil burner option for stoker boilers cost what,...$500.00 or $600.00??? If the Toyo works in this application I guess the cost of oil automatically keeping the boiler temps in the operational zone without any intervention or at most flicking a switch is about $1000.00. Your mileage may vary. I don't need to install this oil back up system but I'm so curious if it will work that I might consider it for yet another summer project. Maybe I can find one on Ebay, cheap! Lol!
