S30 Blower.

WHAT IS THE BURN POT IF THE BLOWER IS A S30 AS THE TAG SAYS.

EFM 700...very rare compared to a 520, and a beautiful machine.

x2, but I'll note that this changes the answers to some of the questions asked previously/in other threads. For example, that stoker can be mounted on the front, and in any of the 3 mounting positions the bin auger can be oriented to the left or right (as you face the mounting plate) so there are 6 possible orientations for the bin auger. Also, that unit normally would have a 9" smokepipe, so a 9" thimble would be good, and the recommended chimney size is 8"x12"x30'.

To get the best performance from this unit I would strongly recommend running it with buck rather than rice. That 16" pot holds a fair amount of coal and the fire breathes much more freely with buck than with rice. With a heat exchange surface more than 50% bigger than a 520, and burning buck, that unit will not break a sweat carrying a load that would tax a 520.

Good point Mike, I forgot that he asked about mounting the stoker on the front. I would recommend burning buck also, but it is nice to have the flexibility of rice, rice/buck mix, or buck.

9" or larger thimble is preferred, but it should be fine to run 9" stove pipe all the way to the thimble and reduce to 8" if needed.

Agreed. Rice or a blend might be especially useful at holding the fire during the shoulder seasons or summer, when the unit is spending most of its time resting.

I would like to than all of you for the info as this is new for me, when I bought it was advertised as a 520, so I thought it was until I saw clips on adjusting the coal flow. again thank you for all the info so far.

Any day that you pay for a 520 and get a 700 is generally a pretty good day.
