harm to fan motors/height of flame

hello will i do any harm to fan motors and feed motor if they are left running continouslly also the flame above the coal fire is touching the top of fire box

just keep the motors oiled with some 3 in1 or some other motor oil. there made to run continuisly. after the thermostat is satisfied the blower motor should shut down when the stove cools off some. the feed motor only runs when coal is needed. the only motor running all the time is the combustion. make sure you have couple inches of ash at the end of the grate so your not over firing. the flame will dance on the top of the roof.

Another good thing for the blower motors is to give them a "brush-clean" once and again on the squirrel cage and the intake screen and then a light oiling to the motor. My combustion blower runs continuously and it's fine.

As for flame, mine also dances and rolls to the roof when burning hot.

FYI...I called Fasco to check on what their motors were spec'd for as far as temps. They said they this:

135 Deg C thermal protector. The lube is Shell Turbo 68 oil which has a temp rating of -20 F to 200 F.

I've measured external case temps on my combustion fan of over 150 degrees F on a medium burn using a Fluke IR thermometer. Internal and winding temps have to be a lot higher. I'd say you want to use a high quality oil.

that the stuff i'm using. i bought the new 3 in 1 bottle with the extended hose. it sucked and i hated it. theres no way to compress the container to get the oil to come out. it just made a big mess. i e-mail them and told them to stick there new design where the sun don't shine. i pitched it. the Zoom bottle is great , no mess.
