Makin' a cloud of dust ... cough, cough, ... 'cause I haven't done that to my ash can. Good idea, . . . . that I may have to steal ! ;)

I like it! I don't have the strength to carry out an entire trash can load of ashes through. One ~15 gallon ash bucket (filled to no more than about 2/3 to 3/4 capacity) is enough for me to handle.

Thanks fellas..
I did this to my ash pan too, so the ash nicely slides off it into the ash can.. :D

Yeah I try not to let it get much past half way full.. Otherwise the ash pan doesn't get in far enough and I get some dust rolling out of it. That, and it gets heavy

Thanks again fellas :notworthy:
At the time of starting this thread, I hadn't tried using it yet (with the new door). I'm happy to report that it has cut down my dust plume dramatically. I position the ash pan open end into the lid's open doorway, stand it vertical, the ash slides into the ash can, then quickly close the ash can lid door.. A little bit of dust creeps out of gaps in the ash can lid but its definitely a huge improvement. 8-)
