Hi every one it has been a while since I have been on the forum I am getting rid of the Memco I won't tell you what I think of memco but anyone that has dealt with one will know  anyway I need some advice so I came to the best place to get it I am putting a chappee in its palce and what I was wondering was when I hooked up the memco I ran it through my oil boiler want I was thinking was with this boiler bypass the oil boiler all together and tie it directly into the feed and return lines and isolate the two boilers

Heh heh! No need to explain a Memco to me, I had one, my brother had one, and my business partner had a Chappee. Now that Chappee is a great coal burner, congrats on finding one. He ran his through the oil boiler to keep it from firing by using the temp settings on the oil boiler. I prefer to use the electrical method and prevent the oil boiler from firing with a loop in the safety or tt circuit that breaks the contact when the coal is up and running. I accomplished this with a simple Honeywell aquastat. This makes it work automatically without lowering the oil boilers temp range.

Thank you for the advise and that is good to here about the Chappee I am looking forward to giving it a try I did not run the memco at all last year, it will be nice to have something that works for a change I have the C 26 it is a 100,000 BTU I hope that it will be big enough for my house but the price was right $ 400.00 it worth a try

I would not do that. Hand-fed boilers tend to overshoot after a big load suddenly stops, and the additional mass of your oil boiler will help smooth out the temperature swings. Also, if the hand-fed is marginally sized for cold days it will probably need assistance from the oil unit at 3 am.

I agree with Rob and you could use the added mass and storage of the oil unit. I know your stomach growls and you want to vomit thinking of the oil burner coming on, but you will be glad you did not eliminate from from the loop. You will have it valved off anyway, IF you decide to go that route, but hand feds will scare you if you don't have a large enough dump zone. If you don't want the oil to come on, simply turn off the switch to the burner. If you are using the controls on the oil boiler, isolate the burner feed wires and add a switch. Glad you got the Chappee, and add the Memco to the JUNK pile in Jay. That is a ...........POS!!! Very heavy POS! If any of you own one, you have my deepest sympathy. I played with 3, owned one and thought I was not that stupid. They were 'talked up' and what the heck.....don't EVER believe what have read unless you have the luxury to try it before hand. A stoker is in your future, closer than you think. Refresh the PM you sent me, and I can stop by on my trips to Northern Vt. 91...what exit? Piermont? Is the memco under the tracks of a D-8? A play toy for the 330 or 360?

I don't think he means to cut it out of the loop and disable it. Just make it parallel not in series. There are pluses and minuses to both ways. I prefer parallel.
It depends on a few other factors we don't know yet.

Lots of threads already in place about hooking up two boilers

Many ways to do it - each installation is different and there is no (extra) clairvoyance to reach into you basement

You will benefit from some reading first - so you can ask the right questions

I am sorry - my responses are limited

I think that I will go with Whistlenut which is the way that I had the Memco hooked up feed (hot water out) from the chappee into the return of the oil boiler(at the bottom) and the return from the oil boiler into the return of the chappee using valves to isolate them
