There are a couple anthracite dealers on I-81 in southwest VA; one in Christiansburg and one in Lexington. There's one in South Boston, too, just over the NC border. That's still a drive but considerably closer then NEPA. The question is would you see any cost savings over propane after paying for the drive to pick it up. You could do like Chris or Freddy and order a truck load - one trip and you'd be set for life. Lisa
Yeah, I have searched all over in Tenn. and can't find it. It just normally is needed. I would already have something but the wife is resisting. We are not committed to this house long term, I wan't to move further north into the Cleveland, Tenn. area. To much of a country rat to live in the burbs. Electricity is just over 8 cents here so I am going the supplemental route as it is quick and easy, along with using winterizing techniques learned from living(and working) in houses like Smitty's.

FFred.. I can tell you've had your dancing shoes on. The forecast called for no precipitation yesterday yet it snow all dang day....not hard, luckily, I could tell you were winded. HA! This morning the news talked about car accidents all over. Across the river they got 3 1/2 inches of snow, but we got 3/4" of slush. It weighs the same as 3 1/2"! OK, you've had your fun, take your shoes off & rest by the stove. We've had enough white for this week. :)

Anthony, where do you think the color for the leaves comes from? toothy I couldn't help myself on that one. Anthony, that's what REAL lumber looks like--age, heart wood, an early lightening strike, etc. ;) I think that's yellow pine or swamp pine, renowned in the south--ages like IRON

Yeah beautiful wood there. Didn't think you could get anything like that these days, until I started life in the country. Wow - can't get lots of things in the 'burbs or shitty ... ...er .. city. ;)

Oh yeah, I didn't notice the bushes you see thru the side door ARE still Green
Those Pics were taken this morning.
Fred is right... the old pile of planks alongside the new cut planks are the same... Southern Pine.
Even though the logs were already seasoned before we ran them thru the mill, the 2x4s still weigh a ton.
