With an Axeman, you'll want a chair with wheels on it. Just to get around without getting up. :)

Hi all. Well, the install is going good. I'm a little behind because of work. I'd like to replace the motor. It sounds noisy to me. What is the direct replacement for the 260 m. Would the 6k592 work? What is the shaft diameter? Is it 5/8 and then the pulley wheels go over it? How much does it cost to rebuild the motor?

Here is an updated photo.

Thanks cloud. Never heard of the victory boards. The piping is almost finished. Just need to finish the return up, and then some odds and ends. Hopefully I could light it tomorrow or Monday.

I ordered the motor today, so hopefully I will have it by this coming week. I'm going to see about putting new bearings on the old motor, cleaning it up and keeping it as a spare.

All the controls are new, and I figure the only other thing would be the solenoid. Does anyone know the direct replacements for it? I may get one just in case.

You will really enjoy the AA260.
I used a 'farm duty' motor for the replacement motor on my AA260.
The motor needs a lot of starting torque to get the big fan turning, and the auger moving.. A standard duty motor kept stalling and overheating.
I think I bought it from Graingers. then found an additional spare motor on Ebay.

Awesome set up. I got the number for the motor from a thread you had posted. It is a discontinued model but I found one online. It met all the specs and is farm duty with high starting torque. In my search for motors online, I found that Grainger is way overpriced. There are so many better deals out there.

I ordered my type M barometric damper from Patriot supply. Their prices are great, and they have many parts for HVAC. They definitely beat out the local plumbing supply stores as far as price goes. I like to use the local plumbing supply store's, but I am not going to pay premium when I can get it cheaper. They are going to have to compete with the online stores, else I'm going to start filling my plumbing needs through online instead of staying local. The benefit of the local store is they are convenient, and I can get most of what I need, but warehouses cost money to run, along with trucks too (logistics, etc.) so that is no excuse to why they can't adjust their prices to compete with the online stores.

Do you know what is the replacement model for the solenoid? Thanks for the info LS.

Thanks all for the replies. I hope to be online tonight. And I will post more pictures. We shall see what happens, I hope all goes well, but am prepared for the worst. :P

Hope you just sit back and let her run. The ashing will take 24 hours to give you a definite answer, but you can check it regularly. Not much else to worry about. :D

You may have to check with AA about the solenoid. I have no secret info on that one. (Never had one fail, but sometimes 'CHALLENGED FOLKS' smash them removing the units.). I didn't want you to think it would take 24 hrs. to ash, just 24 hrs. to get a representative sample. You probably know that you could remove the auger/gearbox belt on startup.......but I never do. Simply place a flat object between the solenoid side and the ashing lever.......then the tube is still active, just the ashing cannot take place. It won't be long before you can remove it (1 hr typically.).......and off you go. Don't forget to remove it!!!! You can also remove the fan belt if you want to get a good fire going without stopping the auger feed......lots of ways to make ignition easier, and since you aren't worried about chopping off fingers and such, you should be good to go.

Re: AA-260 install. Light off successful!!!!

PostBy: Vampiro On: Tue Dec 17, 2013 1:46 pm

Woot. Well today I have great news. The beast is alive. I had a successful light off of the 260 today. :woot: Although I had to extinguish the fire (not enough time to tend to it and monitor it), everything went well. The fan motor all the sudden is quiet. Which is weird, but I have a spare coming, so it works out good.

Getting the pulley weight off was a little pain, but I drilled out the stuck Allen screw, heated up the weight and off it came. Then I removed the broken wheel, heated up the other one, slid that on, tightened everything and voila good to go.

Thank you all for the tips and advice through the years. I'm finally burning coal in the AA :D . I'll post more later on, and I'll leave off with some photos.

Ok, fixed the photos..

The solenoid works by the way. So I don't think it should be an issue. If anyone knows the replacement part I'd still like to know. Friday morning I am going to light it off again and try and run it continuously. I'm so happy :dancing:

Thanks. The gauge is awesome, and an antique. I thought it would be fitting to put it on the 260.

This is a stick up! Your money or your gauge. *smile* What a beauty! I love it.

Thanks for all the pics. Is there an expansion tank we can't see?

Just this week I checked price on a type M baro from my local wholesale place. Patriot beat the heck out of them. Even after shipping I would save. Thanks for the tip! I don't mind paying a little extra to get it locally, but I have my limits.
