I hear ya. Stove seems to be idling ok for now. I'll leave it alone unless something strange happens in the meantime.franco b wrote:Stop trying to do too many things.

How much house are you heating to 75-80 degrees? It must be well insulated or that stove must be chugging along. It is kind of mild now. At least here in central PA. Isn't fiddling with the stove fun? I keep looking for things to tweek and experiment with. Hopefully curiosity won't leave me in a CATatonic state!

Just an update. Turns out the front sliding ash pan damper was loose causing air to get by. (I thought it was tight because of hard it was to slide). The stove now idles at 175 degrees vs 325 degrees.
Also, no blue flames shooting out the top when I went to reload this morning.
Next I'll have to get the thermostat dialed in.

I just tightened the nut behind the slide handle on the outside of the stove. The slide thing doesn't slide easily at all but it didn't even when the nut was loose. Right now I don't use the air vents and the stove is running well so I'm not too worried about it. I'll look at getting that slide to work after this heating season.Scottaw wrote:I'm suspecting my ash door vents are a bit loose too, how did you fix that?
Before tightening I was only able to idle the stove down to 325 degrees. After tightening I am now able to idle it down to 175 degrees. Temp seems to right when comparing with another person on here.
