Baro Placement - Quick Question

Correct me if I'm wrong but, you should NOT place the baro on an elbow? Is that correct? I'm installing mine and the diagram is clear, I'd just like to verify with someone more knowledgeable.

Normally Horizontal or Vertical is recommended no closer than 18" from the stove (if possible).
And you have to check the weight depending on the mounting of it.

Baro damper?

You also should check it with a draft gauge to make sure it is setup correctly with the amount of weight on the baro.

It can go in an TEE but I don't recommend it. It will alter its flow characteristics.

A lot of members have them set up that way without any trouble though.

Picture the way the gases flow through the stove pipe and elbows. The Field Controls Type RC instructions say it's OK to place the damper at a 90 degree turn in the flow if the flow is traveling away from the point where the baro is located. They indicate it should not be placed at a 90 degree turn if the gases are flowing towards the damper. Take a look at the instructions (attached). I have mine installed at the turn from the vertical pipe from the stove to the horizontal pipe to the chimney. Setting the draft with a manometer is a must.
