Cast Iron Radiator Suppliers.

PostBy: EarthWindandFire On: Wed Dec 04, 2013 2:36 pm

I was looking for a supplier that has salvaged cast-iron radiators. Came across what appears to be a big supply house up in Massachussetts. The company name is A1 Plumbing located in Somerville.

Please post feedback if you used them or feel free to suggest other suppliers. This thread might prove helpful to someone in the future.

I would try to contact a small remodeling company or small HVAC company and see if they could hook you up with some old radiators. BTW there are at least 3 types of radiators and I don't think they interchange, 1 pipe steam, 2 pipe steam, and hot water.

Around here, the local scrap yard sets aside cast iron radiators that come in, and sells them for slightly over scrap price. Also, the local ReStore usually has a bunch, but they tend to be more $. You might want to see what's available through those types of local avenues before going all the way to Somerville.

And if you think a coal stove is heavy, wait until you try to move a cast iron radiator.

Don't know anything about that MA company (too far east for this country boy) ... but if I were to guess, the MA and NY stores are probably the most expensive, while the PA one is cheaper. I can fairly confidently say that without having researched anything. Just the nature of the beast in MA and NY - neither are very business friendly, but NY is REALLY bad. I'd guess they'd be more than MA.

Just thinkin' out loud ...

I see them priced around this general area at ~$11.00 per fin.
Sometimes a private seller will take less.
