Other Coal Burning Appliance Manufacturers MIA???

PostBy: Carbon12 On: Thu Dec 05, 2013 10:37 am

I have often wondered why not all the companies that make coal burning equipment, controls and accessories are not present here on the Forum??? It would seem to be a huge advantage to them to be here. Talk about a target demographic! WE are the target demographic and anyone who does a web search about coal stoves ends up here pretty quick!

I have often thought the same. I think one reason is "WE" already have coal appliances, and in a twisted kind of way many are here indirectly through the knowledge base. :? Some may not want to hear any negative observations or conjecture. These are not answers just my 2 cents :|

There are good and bad to being on here. But the good far out weighs the negatives. I like it because we are in contact with the end users. Customer satisfaction is very important to us. I don't think we sell a lot because of this forum but I am pretty sure we have a lot happy customers afterwards. The posts that bother me the most are the ones where someone has a problem and it is their first post. We or someone else on here gives an answer and we never hear from them again. Its not that they posted that bothers me. Its the fact I don't know if they are happy or not.

I never would have bought my first hand fired let alone my stoker boiler without this forum. I read literally hundreds of posts before my first trip to a stove store. Without this forum, I would be burning literally tons of fuel oil :!:

I also researched this site before purchasing my coal stove. It led me to choose coal over pellets, helped me settle on my Hitzer 503 insert and helped to safely accelerate the learning curve.

I know some have purchased because of here. But it is only about 1/3rd of our total website traffic comes from here. I do appreciate this forum though tremendously. With a small company every bit helps.

If it wasn't for this site I would never ever be burning coal . All my friends in this area are burning oil , wood pellets or wood . I have a garage door in my basement so the coal guy comes with a skid steer and places the pallets of coal in the basement so I never have to touch coal until I am ready to burn it , sure works great for me . Due to having a back problem awhile ago that sure helped me out .

I understand other manufacturers reluctance to participate. At one time Reading attempted to and it wasn't pretty and only lasted a month or so. There's a hometown team here with a fine product anybody elese is going to get the runner up treatment and an occasional bash no manufacturer needs that Also if a customer posts a question anybody with a thought can reply and the info may not be right or best. Got a problem call your dealer or manufacturer. Take the internet for what it's worth and remember anthracite is less than 1% of the supplemental heat market a lot of the folks here stoves are a hobby with a good function.
