Hand Fed Coal Stove: Hitzer, 3095

Post by Den034071 » Fri. Dec. 06, 2013 9:09 am

I love the stove but have a problem with coal falling behind front firebrick an laying near glass door .Front firebrick run horizontly about 20 inches overall .They are 3.5 inches high an 9 inches long .I cut my brick to 5.25 long 4 and a piece .I stood the firebrick vertically or upright .This is in the front of my stove the sides an rear brick I did not touch . Forgot to mention I cut or beveled top of firebrick45 degrees .This preventsany coal sitting on top of f. brick .Side or small benefit I guess I get a deeper coal bed .Even hard shakedowns no coal goes behind front f. brick .I believe this install would pertain to Hitzer 5093 stove an other stoves with firebrick on short 3.5 size in stove front that has coal falling behind brick an collecting by glass door . amen jack

Good choice of stoves Den,Ive got the 50-93 and never had a problem like the one you have described.Only thing I can think of that I do different is the side brick goes in last ,keeping the front brick tight to the stove wall.Just a thought. What ever works for you ! :rambo2:
